Mommy & Munchkin Style Feature: Leah & North

Leah is a beautiful soul that I met through blogging some time ago. Her style combines modern and thrift goodness all in one unique look. She has a stylish son by the name of North, who is just as stylish as his rock mom! I love the fact that she makes thrifting a family outing! A family the thrifts together, stays together.

Kick back and enjoy the next mommy and son duo feature:

Where are some of your favorite places to shop for little man?

"My favorite place to shop for him number 1 is the thrift store, especially Goodwill (no surprise). Some other places I like to shop, due to their cute modern clothing and affordable prices, H&M, Target, Old Navy, and I love the Joe Fresh line at JcPenny. I like stores that have affordable regular price items, great sales and clearance racks. In addition to shopping I am learning to sew with the hopes of soon being able to make his clothing myself."

North is just the cutest in his animal print top and striped suspenders.
Since your are a thrifty mommy, do you (or will you) shop the same for your little man?

"Yes, there is no exception! I thrifted nearly everything used in his nursery including his closet full of clothing. I really could not help myself, baby items are so cute. Being an avid thrift shopper for nearly 4 years, I did not think twice about shopping there. All the clothing was washed and I was able to find some cool and unique even retro pieces as well as name brand stuff. I do buy new stuff, but as fast as babies grow, buying used items just makes sense to me. We thrift together as a family and will always thrift, it's just so fun."

How does your personal style influence the way you dress your baby?

"I always refer to North as my lil fashionisto. I love loud, bold colors, prints, sportswear, denim and vintage anything. I love to have fun with my clothing and that completely reflects in my son's style also. I can do those things a lot easier because he is a baby. I sometimes throw on a dinosaur, skeleton or monkey onesie on him because it's cute. I also love him in separates, his closet has a little bit of everything. I would say he is a bit hippy and hipster like myself, and of course him being a baby everything he wears does not always work out or stay clean for very long."

Chubby cheeks and all in his fashion glory!
What is your favorite part about motherhood?

"That is really hard to answer. Besides being my son's mother, it is the most amazing thing ever! I think of his milestones too. Every time I see him do something he has not done before, like grabbing, rolling over, jumping on his legs, I reflect back to his arrival in the hospital and our first night home with him. It's really an amazing feeling. He just got his first two teeth and has started mouthing mamamamama (even though he has no idea what he is saying) it melts my heart every time."

Mommy & Munchkin Style Feature: Katara & Kayelyn

Meet Katara & Kayelyn!

These two beauties have been in my life for the past three years now! When the thought of doing this mini style feature for mommies and their little babies came to mind, she was one of the first mommies I contacted!
Before I get too sentimental, take some time to read their awesome style feature:
Kayelyn is wearing leggings from Children's Place, dress & shoes from sears.com
Katara is rocking jeans from Rugged Warehouse & a top from Burlington Coat Factory
Where are some of your favorite places to shop for Kayelyn?

"My favorite places to shop for KK are Sears, Children's Place, Burlington Coat Factory, Kohl's and JCPenny!"

KK is wearing a Children's Place outfit & shoes from Nike Outlet
Katara has on an Express blazer, Rugged Warehouse Jeans and shoes from 6pm.com
Since you are a thrifty mommy, do you (or will you) shop the same for your baby girl?

"Yes! I rarely pay retail price. When shopping for both KK and I, the items I purchase are almost always on sale or clearance. On top of the sale price I have coupons! Khols, JCPenny, and Children's Place are always giving out coupons via email."

Mommy and daughter matching ruffle skirts!
How does your personal style influence the way you dress her?

"My style is more relaxed and versatile. I can go from laid back to ready to hang out with the change of shoes and accessories. When it comes to KK, I dress her the same way. She could start the day in leggings,a shirt and tennis shoes. Then when it's time to step out with mommy I would add a tutu to the outfit and switch out the tennis shoes for high boots."

KK is a little diva, isn't she ready for the runway? She is wearing an Old Navy outfit (including the boots).
Mommy's outfit includes jeans from JCP.com, sweater from Burlington Coat Factory and boots from Macys.com
What is your favorite part about motherhood?

"My favorite part about motherhood is being called "mommy." My heart skips a beat every time I hear it, as it makes me want to be a better person, a better provider, and just as all around example of what a mommy should be."

Mommy & Munchkin Style Feature: Lisa & Jackson Blaise

Welcome to my new mini style installment called, "Mommy & Munchkin Style Features."

I have asked ladies who were style bloggers and normal everyday mommies to showcase their own personal styles, as well as their little ones' as well!

First up we have the beautiful blogger Lisa, of Dime Piece on a Dime, and her handsome little fella Jackson Blaise! Enjoy!

This is Lisa and her beautiful family! Isn't Jackson Blaise just the cutest?
Where are some of your favorite places to shop for Jackson Blaise?
"I shop for JB at Target, Baby Gap, H&M, and Carters. Circo brand at Target runs big so I love that he's been able to wear tons from that line for a long stretch. He wears tons of Circo stuff for play and daycare, as the line doesn't really carry super stylish wear. Baby Gap has great quality items, and when you hit a 50% off of sale sale? Forget it! Last week I got TONS of stuff for him for about $30. H&M has great color selection for boys-funky colored pants, cool hats. All super cheap."

Look at little JB in his oxford button down onsie and dashing bow tie!
Since your are a thrifty mommy, do you (or will you) shop the same for your little man?

I'm probably not as thrifty as I should be, but for the most part I am. I mean, you won't see me shopping for him at Polo or J.Crew, you know? I don't really believe in paying full price for anything, so yeah, when the sales happen mama hits those racks!

How does your personal style influence the way you dress your baby?

"I'm trendy, so I like to keep my son that way. I'm inspired by celebrities and bloggers, so I stay on top of trends even for babies. I love the way Kourtney Kardashian dresses her son, so he's kind of my muse when I think of pieces to put together for Jackson Blaise. I also follow IG pages for super stylish kids
@cutekidsfashion is one of my favorites."

What is your favorite part about motherhood?

"I love that whenever he looks at me he smiles. I love that when he wakes up in the morning and sees my face he does a little happy dance with his feet. I love his feet. I love his face. I love his sweet disposition. I love him. I love knowing that I am the most important person in his world, and because I am that person I'm being blessed everyday. I love that his birth brought me closer to God and faith. I love that because of him I know love in the raw. In the flesh. In the bones."

Rookie Mommy: Baby Shopping 101

Since becoming a mommy to an awesome seven week old, I think it is important that I include my motherhood experience on this blog! Whether you are a mommy-to-be or planning to have children, I believe this list is awesome for babies who are first born to about 6 months. This list may seem a little short, but these have been my core items that have gotten me through these first two months of being a mother. As our children get older, I know for a fact that this list will get more extensive.

This list has been essential for both me and baby! To be completely honest, the items that other mothers said I may need hasn't even been ripped out of the packaging from my baby showers. Honestly, that is the beautiful thing about being a mother, you make the executive decisions about what baby needs. This list is just a starter for new mommies like myself, make use of it for your registry or for your personal shopping list for baby!

I hope this helps,

Chakayla & Emmanuel
